Education Outreach

SAEON is successfully running a science education outreach programme that focuses on empowerment of science and mathematics teachers in secondary schools through training and involvement in observation projects.

Learners are also involved and environmental education is a secondary outcome of the work.

SAEON complements its school programme with a Graduate Student Network. The purpose of its education programmes is to provide an education-support pipeline that will ultimately boost the number of environmental science PhDs.

SAEON’s main funding requirements are contained within the need to grow the nodes as observation platforms, to grow its information management system and to grow its education outreach programme.
