Great and exciting SAEON journey

Selelo Matimolane, former intern at the SAEON National Office
When I joined SAEON as Assistant Project Officer reporting to Stakeholder Relations Manager Dr Amani Saidi, I received a warm welcome from all SAEON’s staff members. I settled in well and soon became part of the SAEON family, ready to tackle the challenges of my job.
My experiences at SAEON have been very valuable – I enjoyed good working relationships with my colleagues, I got to work on a big UNFCCC project through which I met and interacted with some of the leading scientists in related environmental science and global change disciplines. I also had the opportunity to attend workshops and give presentations on behalf of SAEON.
In addition to getting to grips with the work that I was employed to do, I wanted to develop and enhance my skills in research and project management, effective business communication and stakeholder relations. I am happy to say that all my expectations in this regard were met and I believe I am better equipped with the skills and knowledge I need to be effective at my job.
Personally, being part of SAEON has been a great and exciting journey for me. As I leave SAEON to pursue other opportunities, I would like to be an ambassador for the organisation I have called home for the last eight months. I hope to be back here one day to contribute to the growth and success of this great organisation.
Thank you to everyone at SAEON for the good times and the investment in my career!
