SAEON, one of the founder exhibitors of South Africa's International Science, Innovation and Technology Exhibition (INSITE), once again participated in this biennial exhibition organized by the Department of Science and Technology. The exhibition received a significant number of high-level local and international visitors such as the Deputy Minister of Science & Technology of China, Mr Liu Yanhua and delegations from Germany and the Czech Republic.

The theme of the exhibition, New Frontiers · Global Challenges, inspired the exhibitors to be innovative and creative in their displays. The SAEON stand was visited by representatives of several countries, the media, as well as students and learners.

Launched in 2004 as an integral part of South Africa's 10 years of democracy celebrations, INSITE is an international showcase for Science, Innovation & Technology in the form of innovations, products, technologies, services and solutions. There is also a strong focus on the youth with the aim of promoting careers in science, innovation and technology. The exhibition provides networking opportunities across industries that enable experts in Science and Technology from across the globe to identify joint objectives, activities and initiatives.

In his opening address Mr Mosibudi Mangena, Minister of Science and Technology, said: "We see INSITE as much more than a display of products and technologies. It is a vibrant platform for forming and strengthening partnerships, for sharing ideas and for informing the world about the life-preserving and life-enhancing benefits of science and technology."
