An article entitled The Role of the Agulhas System in Regional and Global Climate appeared in Eos Vol.94, No. 10 of 5 March 2013. The article deals with the first American Geophysical Union Chapman Conference to be held on the African continent and the first dedicated Agulhas conference ever. Dr Juliet Hermes, Manager of SAEON’s Egagasini Node for marine offshore systems, acted as the local convener.
An article entitled Changes in the SADCO Steering Committee published in the Sancor newsletter #201, mentions that SAEON’s Dr Juliet Hermes has become the first woman to chair the SADCO Steering Committee.
In an article entitled A new sea view in the April 2013 edition of getSETgo, Lauren De Vos highlights the science communication and education outreach opportunities provided by the baited remote underwater video (BRUV) surveys that SAEON is undertaking in False Bay, in collaboration with the Save Our Seas Foundation (SOSF) and the University of Cape Town (UCT).
