Chasing the rain in Jonkershoek, an article in which SAEON PhD student Retang Mokua relates her experience sampling a storm event to study streamflow-generation processes, was republished in Quest Magazine Vol. 15.4. Read the article here.

A video by SEACRIFOG – Supporting EU-African Cooperation on Research Infrastructures for Food Security and Greenhouse Gas Observations – highlights SAEON’s work in environmental monitoring by employing local engineers, technicians and scientists.

An article titled The promised presidential investment in agriculture needs to heal the land and its people, by SAEON honorary research associate Professor James Blignaut, was published in Daily Maverick on November 12.

Flaunting the extremes, an article on the welwitschia plant by Dr Joh Henschel, manager of SAEON’s Arid Lands Node, appeared in Safari News on September 1.

An article titled Veld research technician receives MSc, published in AgriProbe Vol. 16, No 3 of 2019, highlights the research of Rudi Swart, scientific technician at the Directorate Plant Sciences of the Research and Technology Development Programme stationed at the Worcester Veld Reserve. His research was co-supervised by Dr Sue Milton-Dean, a SAEON research associate.

Dr Nicky Allsopp, manager of SAEON’s Fynbos Node, is cited in an article titled Team effort needed to conserve South Africa’s natural heritage, published in thegreentimes.co.za of October 25. The article is based on a news release issued by Stellenbosch University on a paper co-authored by Dr Nicky Allsopp (SAEON), Dr Jasper Slingsby (SAEON and the University of Cape Town) and Professor Karen Esler (Stellenbosch University.)
