SAEON in the media

1501.jpg

Three canoeists paddled 2 500 km across South Africa. On their way, they gave talks hosted by SAEON to inform learners, educators, the general public and the media about river health and effective ways of monitoring it.

The Agulhas System Climate Array (ASCA) launch event was splashed on national TV. Listen to the soundbite and read the narrative on the SABC Eastern Cape News Page.  Articles on the launch also featured on MyPE and alive2green.com.

An article, "UM Rosenstiel School Professor Receives $2.5 Million to Study Agulhas Current", was published in the online newsletter of the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science, University of Miami. The article gives a brief overview of the Agulhas System Climate Array (ASCA) project and why it matters.

The Rivertalks hosted by the SAEON Arid Lands Node spawned two articles in the local media:

An article entitled "Educating pupils about the health of river systems", was published in The New Age Northern Cape on February 23. GWK, one of the sponsors of the river talks published an article, “Navorsers toets watergehalte” (Researchers test water quality) in the March edition of their newsletter Kommuniek.
